Keresley Jubilee Wood Tree Planting Ceremony – Saturday 2nd December 2023
We were joined by over 20 people yesterday for a very special occasion in Keresley Jubilee Wood, despite the cold weather!
Two new trees were unveiled by The Lord Mayor & Lady Mayoress of Coventry.
The first tree, a Cedrus Libani (Lebanese Cedar) was planted to commemorate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
The second tree, a Cedrus Atlantica Glauca (Blue Atlas Cedar) was planted to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III.
They are located in the paddock area just after the orchard and will grow to be huge trees in years to come.
The ceremony was opened by the Chair of Keresley Parish Council Cllr Tracy Gudgeon, followed by the cutting of a ribbon and a few words from Lord Mayor Cllr Birdi. The ceremony was concluded with a blessing from Rev. Charlotte Jackson (St Thomas’ Church, Keresley).
It was a lovely occasion not only to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and Coronation of King Charles III, but also all of the hard work of volunteers in Keresley Jubilee Wood over the past 2 years. With your help, the woodland continues to be a beautiful place to explore and a rich habitat for wildlife.
Please do take the time to go and see the new trees and enjoy Keresley Jubilee Wood.
